Old Man Doom
This is some great riffs right here. The Steve Earle cover just brings me back home to the old coal mining communities that are gone or overtaken with shitty meth. Good fucking Doom to relax and read something too.
Favorite track: The Mountain.
One of the best Stoner/Doom albums I've heard in a while. Dare I say, even great? I can listen to this on repeat and not even notice hours have gone by. I think this is one I will return to as regularly as Electric Wizard's Dopethrone.
Atmospheric sounds of epic doom conjure up visions of frost giants clashing in icy wastelands and wizards summoning ancient demons from beyond the void. Gargantuan guitar riffs and drum beats come crashing down like boulders spewn from primordial volcanos erupting. Something truly special.
Favorite track: Thirteen Witches.
URSA is a doom metal band from the Bay Area, CA. Formed in 2016 by three-fourths of the progressive black metal band Cormorant, the group combines the traditional sensibilities of genre pioneers like Candlemass and Solitude Aeternus with a high-fantasy aesthetic and progressive leanings à la Rush and Yes. "Abyss Between the Stars", their debut LP, features six epic tales that transport the listener to a mystical realm where wizards, dragons and witches rule the land.
Brennan Kunkel: drums, percussion
Matt Solis: vocals, bass, organ
Nick Cohon: electric/acoustic guitars, banjo

A corrosive mix of death, doom, psychedelia, and black metal, the Portland quartet’s debut full-length is a bona fide underground monolith that shapeshifts with each listen, all while maintaining its essential heaviness. Bandcamp Album of the Day Feb 1, 2019
